Simply Shoddy Journalism

I make no bones about being a fan of Tottenham Hotspur, I have been one since 1981 and no doubt I will continue to be one until my time is up. I try to watch as many games as I can get my hands on, and tend to read the varying match reports once they are published. As a result, in recent weeks my eyes have really been opened to the way the media industry works in the UK, and why, simply put, it cannot be trusted to produce a proper, balanced, fact based view of whatever they happen to reporting on. Okay, so perhaps I have always really understood that was the case, somewhere ‘deep down’, and 2 incidents in the last couple of weeks have really shown it to be true.

And I’m spent.

I’ve spent the last few days trying to get this new site up and running, and finally it’s pretty much where I would like it to be. There are still things to be done, but all the major tweaking and infrastructure that was on the old side now works on this, plus a few extras.

With that done, I can now shut down the old domain, and think about what to tackle next 🙂

About RustyNailed.net

RustyNailed.net is a personal website with no affiliation or connection to any organisation or company aside from the fact the author doesn’t live in a world of his own, and does have a day job and other interests. Any comments, articles, observations, beliefs or views expressed are not the views of any organisation or company, and they might not even reflect the views of feelings of the author depending on his mood at the time.

The author is a software engineer by trade, and has been playing with computers as a hobby for over 20 years. In addition to that he enjoys sailing when he can, badminton amd football when fit, and photography when inspiration strikes. The banner image and logo are from an picture called ‘Formation Flying’ which was taken at a kite festival on Southsea common a few years ago. You can see the full image in the gallery if you are interested.

On that note, please be aware that the author holds copyright on all images and content on this website unless stated otherwise, which means you cannot use them for any reason without permission. That doesn’t mean it’s ok if it’s for a good cause, or if it’s non-commercial or for your mum. It means don’t use anything here without asking first.

The author hopes you enjoy what you find here, on some level at least, and asks you to respect the fact that this is his little area of the web. You might well disagree or even be offended, and that’s ok. The author cannot possibly know what any one individual might be able to take offence at, and so will be unable to avoid offending everybody. If you feel that strongly about something posted here that there are several options option to you, including not visiting this site, and writing your own website somewhere else. As you can tell, this is not a website which will pander to peoples hurt feelings or those who take offence – it is not against the law to say hurtful or offensive things (as a rule). That said, this website has no intention of stepping beyonds the bounds of law, and if you have a legitimate issue with anything posted here, please let us know and we can try to work it out like sensible adults.

Put simply, this is the authors home and though he welcomes visitors of all kinds he expects them to treat it as his home, and act accordingly.

Moving Home

Not me, the site. If you are reading this then you will have noticed a few changes about the place, assuming you have been here before – and if you haven’t, then welcome!

The biggest change is of course the new domain name, rustynailed.net. There were various reasons I decided to make the change, and I decided that the right way forward would be to move my personal site to a completely new home (domain wise), along with consolidating various other accounts and e-mail addresses I’ve picked up over the years. Along with the new domain I decided on a new look, and am well on the way to having everything ‘just so’. That said, there are still some things I’m not completely happy with so I’ll be tweaking for a while yet. As ever, once things get more stable I hope to be able to post more.

If you are wondering what will become of Earthstorm.net, it will shortly be disappearing and will hopefully rise from its own ashes as something new and exciting (for me at least). I’ll post more here as appropriate.
